Mylan's 9th Birthday Party

This year for Mylan's 9th birthday his mom (Becky) threw his party at a local pizza place and then we all went back to her house for cake and presents. Mylan got to have four friends (that's five boys total) spent the night! Christopher, Bo, Stephen and Drake. Brave Becky. I hope she has 911 on speed dial!
These are the snap shots that I took.

Drake, Mylan and Stephen.

A little spit won't hurt anyone right?!

It's become a tradition that Mylan and his friends splat themselves in the face with their cake! Why? I have no idea! Hey, their boys, what can I say!

Mylan, Bo, Stephen.

Later the boys got a firm talking to from Mylan's mom about "house rules" because the boys were getting too rowdy. It was humorous to see all the boys sitting there trying o be serious during this little chat.

That didn't last long...

Happy 9th Birthday Mylan!

Stupid Allergies...

Those darn allergies! Who needs them anyway! I can thank my mothers side of the family for these stupid allergies. Yuck!
I tend to have my allergy problems around Spring and Fall. My two favorite seasons! Those darn allergies try to come in and ruin it for me. If you suffer from allergies then you know what I mean. Red/chapped nose, constantly runny or stuffy nose, watery eyes, a cough and puffy face...it's the pits. You look like you've got a cold but you don't. Being in the health care profession I constantly get patients asking me, "You're not sick are you?" or "Are you okay?" I reassure them that I'm not sick and that it's just allergies and that yes I am okay. However, all they see is my red nose and watery eyes.
When we are working on a patient I can't sit there and sniff and cough the entire time so for my cough I dose up on cough syrup which always makes me tired and for my sniffles I stuff cotton rolls up my nose underneath my mask. What really bites is when I sneeze in my mask - now that's really gross!
Yikes, I must look frightening!

This is my favorite part of the house. I love to display my family photos here.

These are my cute little farm houses. I love them! Got them at Gordman's!

Indoor Baseball

For Christmas my mom and step-dad gave Mylan a baseball net to use for practice. Today Mylan and Larry put it up in our back room a.k.a the "Baseball Room" so that Mylan can practice his swing no matter what the weather is like outside. The "Baseball Room" as Mylan has dubbed it is just a backroom in our house that we currently don't use for anything. In the future it will be an extension to our living room once we remove the separating wall and fix the fireplace. For now Mylan uses it as a play room for baseball and wrestling.

To Do...To Do...

Oh the dreaded housework...again! Why, why is it never ending? It's like a nightmare that you just can't wake up from! Scream!
Sometimes Friday's (if I don't work at BBW) are my housework days and sometimes Sunday's are. Since I didn't get much done on Friday it looks like Sunday is my dreaded housework day. Eek! Unfortunately Sunday has arrived. Sigh!
We all have our normal everyday rooms that has the highest traffic areas and we tend to spend most of our time cleaning those rooms the most a.k.a. the rooms guests will see. Such as the kitchen, entry way, guest bathroom or living room. Other areas of the house tend to get neglected more such as the bedrooms, hallway, upstairs bathrooms, office or basement. However, my ENTIRE house is a mess. It seems like I clean up every week in those high traffic areas and then neglect it throughout the week and it just gets messed up again so the whole cycle starts all over. So I plan to begin the clean up process again today. Since it's Super Bowl Sunday and the boys will be out of the house later this afternoon I can probably get a little more work done with them out of the way.
Wish me luck!

Don't buy Kathy Van Zealand

For Christmas my boss got me a purse that I liked. It is a black Kathy Van Zealand patent leather belt shopper from her pretty pleat collection. I loved it! It was so cute and girlie. The nicest purse I've owned. So naturally I was upset when the straps started to crack. The patent leather on them was cracking apart. I've only had it a month. So today I went back to Dillard's to complain and return/exchange it. I asked if they've had a lot of trouble with that kind of material on purses. The sales lady asked if I wanted her honest opinion and I said yes. She said that they've had a lot of returns on the Kathy Van Zealand purses. She said that in her opinion that they are worthless and that she would never own one. So unfortunately I had to give up my favorite purse. I got a store credit and I plan to get a different purse when I find one that I like. I'm not picky, I just know what I want.

A special surprise in the mail

Today I got a special surprise in the mail! It was handmade cards from my Sunday school kids telling me how much they missed me! How sweet! It really made me feel special.

You see, I've taken a few months off. Mr. Rich is filling in for me while I am taking some time off. I just needed a break. I was feeling drained and wasn't doing the kids any good when I was feeling that way.

That was very sweet of Mr. Rich to have the kids do that for me!
