Shut Up and Quit Complining

Ha, that title got your attention didn't it?!

Tonight Larry, Mylan and I ran an errand at Wal-Mart. Good ol' wally world. There has been a lot of lay offs happening around our community. However, there is still a lot of people complaining about their jobs. I don't understand that at all. There are a lot of people in our community struggling to make ends meet or even getting a job due to all of the lay offs and companies cutting back due to the economy. So I just can't stomach listening to anyone complaining about their jobs anymore. Tonight the cashier at Wal-Mart was complaining about his job. Larry mentioned that he should be grateful that he has a job since a lot of people don't. The cashier actually disagreed! Can you believe that?! Then he proceeded to tell us that he has applied for another job working for the city or something like that. So I looked at Larry and said something like, "Hm, well he's awfully brave to be telling that to strangers like us being that I am a Wal-Mart manager and all." You should have seen that guys face! It was priceless! Then I told him that I was only kidding. For a guy who hated his job so much I sure had him scared for a minute there. That's too bad I told him I was kidding. I should have left him thinking that I really was a Wal-Mart manager. Give him something to think about.

Be thankful for the job you have people and quit your whining...Please!

Our Decision to Move On

My husband and I have decided to find a new church home. We informed the necessary people at our current church last Sunday. It was at that time that I also informed my Sunday school class. As most of you know I taught a 4th and 5th grade Sunday school class. The kids took it pretty well. I still have some residual feelings left to deal with myself but I'll live. The kids and I played games and ate muffins the last day just to hang out together and have a little down time. We are still checking out other churches in our community.

Phone Case

I wanted a phone case for my new phone so that the screen didn't get scratched in my purse. However, I don't like any of the cases in the stores. So my mom made me one. It's so cute.

A Past Valentines Day Gift

Mylan gave me this for a Valentines Day gift a few years ago. I love it! It's so cute! He hide it behind his back and said, "Ashlyne I've got something for you!" I said, "Oh yeah, what is it?" Then he took it out and held it up to me in his cute little hands and said, "It say's 'Hot Looooovve!'". You'd have to be there. Adorable!

Disapointed

Today my friend, Kelli, and I were supposed to be volunteering at the 2009 Kansas Mission of Mercy Event. However, we didn't end up doing that because poor Kelli got sick with the stomach flu. She's been home sick all week. That's okay, it's not like people can help when they get sick. Maybe next time around we'll get to go.

Making Progress

As you already know, I am in the process of growing my hair out and hating every minute of it. I wish I could just yank on it and pull it to the length I want.

What it was...

What it is so far...

Cleaning out my picture files

I was cleaning out my picture files on my computer and found this series of pictures. Mylan was about 5 years old and we had all just moved into our first house after Larry and I were married. Mylan was playing in one of his Halloween costumes. It's a red dragon costume.

Isn't he adorable!

Shh...don't wake up the dragon.

Cutest little dragon I've ever seen!

That was a fun time!

Out with the Old and In with the New

My old cell phone (Left) is on it's last leg. I've dropped it a lot. So now it only works half the time for texting only. I can't hear anything on it so I can't call or receive calls on it.
Larry got online and got me a new one (Right). It actually works! Wow!
So...call me!

Paint

Sometimes I get a wild hair and just dive into some kind of project. Today while at Lowes I decided to check out paint colors. There is plenty that needs painting around our house and it's been on my mind for a while. The hardest part is just making the final colors decisions. I watch a lot of HGTV and I do a lot of dreaming about these kinds of things. Home project lists are a never ending thing. Every home owner knows that.

Possible master bathroom paint colors. Laura Ashley colors: Wintergreen Ash, Green River, Spruce Frost, Jade Bath. I am going for an antique look. I also want it too look and feel fresh and clean. I love the look of old decorative mirrors on the wall, milk glass, turquoise glass, white accents, crackle paint...that type of thing. These colors make me think of that type of look.

In our bedroom I want earthy tones. I think those tons feel comforting and relaxing. I am leaning more towards the blues, however, I like greens and brown also.
So I found three choices that I like.
Choice one: Waverly Home Classics: Blue Sail and Soft Camel. I have seen many bed clothes with these colors in them that I like. I would paint the walls Blue Sail and do decorative stuff in Soft Camel such as the window dressings and whatever...

Choice two: Martha Stewart Colors: Cake Stand Blue.
This is a very pale almost white with bluish tint color. I would do brown and white accents in the room with this wall color. But I think I'll throw this color out...don't think I'm feeling it.

Choice three: I have chosen lots of green tones to choose from.

Choice four: I have chosen a color from Valspar Seaside Retreat called Light Khaki. I would paint the walls this color and pull all of my other colors into the room however I chose with accents from the bed clothes, window dressings and decorative things.

Hmmm......

The outside of the house desperately needs painted. Larry has worked out a deal with his friend who plans to paint it for us once we purchase the paint and supplies needed.
I've already known for awhile what colors I wanted for the exterior of the house.
Valspar Colors:
The trim of the house will be Gilded Linen (a creamy white).
The shutters on the windows will be Lincoln Cottage Black (Grayish black).
The house will be Filoli Carriage House (a brownish tan).

Mylan's 9th Birthday Party

This year for Mylan's 9th birthday his mom (Becky) threw his party at a local pizza place and then we all went back to her house for cake and presents. Mylan got to have four friends (that's five boys total) spent the night! Christopher, Bo, Stephen and Drake. Brave Becky. I hope she has 911 on speed dial!
These are the snap shots that I took.

Drake, Mylan and Stephen.

A little spit won't hurt anyone right?!

It's become a tradition that Mylan and his friends splat themselves in the face with their cake! Why? I have no idea! Hey, their boys, what can I say!

Mylan, Bo, Stephen.

Later the boys got a firm talking to from Mylan's mom about "house rules" because the boys were getting too rowdy. It was humorous to see all the boys sitting there trying o be serious during this little chat.

That didn't last long...

Happy 9th Birthday Mylan!
