Turkey dinner and it's not even Thanksgiving

Tonight I had my little brother (now age 21), Nathaniel, and my little sister (now age 24), Shonda, and their significant others over for dinner. Actually it was my sister's idea. She had a turkey in her freeze for a while now and her boyfriend wanted my husband to fry it. So we all gathered at my house for a turkey dinner. My husband likes to inject the turkey with some sort of Cajun concoction and then fry it. Last Christmas it was huge hit and so Mike (my sisters boyfriend) was dying for my husband to make turkey again. It really does taste delicious! So we all ate, talked, goofed off. We had a good time. I can't remember the last time it was just us "kids" together having a good time.

Day two: When my hubby is away

Okay, so here I am again...alone. No hubby. He is at his friends house watching "March Madness." They do this every year so you'd think I'd be used to it by now, but every year I miss him just the same. I should probably be cleaning the house or something, but once again there is that motivation problem.

When my hubby is away

I AM SO BORED! Every March my husband and his friends get together for "March Madness". You would think that I would be able to enjoy having the entire house to myself, but I just can't. I MISS MY HUSBAND! I tried to relax and take a bath and read a magazine but it just wasn't the same knowing that my handsome hubby wasn't down stairs waiting for me. I WANT MY HUSBAND TO COME HOME NOW!

House work

Who likes to do housework? Not too many people that I know. Who finds doing house work easy to do willingly? Didn't think so. Most of us only do actually house cleaning when we are expecting company. Me? I occasionally get into this "house cleaning" mood and when I do, it's best to stay out of my way. Most days I dread house work. I simply have no drive to do it. My husband really dislikes that. What I am wondering though is why does it seem to me that in most households it is the woman who does the house work. Now don't get me wrong, my husband does somethings around the house: he does the cooking, I clean up the kitchen and dishes, he does the bill paying/finances, and we share the laundry duties. However, despite the "understood"/"agreed upon" duties, why does it still seems as though the woman of the house does more household chores. Is this just an silly idea of mine/illusion?

The best compliment ever

Yesterday, at work, a patient of mine gave me the best compliment I've ever had. She told me that a year ago she came into our office to get her teeth cleaned the day before her first chemo treatment (she had breast cancer). She told me that when she saw my short hair that she felt a new courage inside that she could go through with chemo and loose her hair and still be alright. That made me feel good. I get compliments all the time on my haircut, but to know that this woman who was scared to loose her long hair felt encourage just by seeing another woman with very short hair. I think that sometimes as a woman, that we get caught up in the thinking that our looks make us a woman. The fact that we have long flowing hair, a pretty face or slim figure, breasts or a uterus doesn't make us women. It is our hearts, our nature and our natural way of "motherly" thinking and loving that makes us the women we are. Those other things are just visual and superficial. Sure some of those things make it easier to identify us from men, but like I said, they're just superficial...vain.

Just not feelin' it...

Okay, so I have been slacking on my blog. I'm sorry but I have just not been into it ever since our other computer died and we got this one. It's just not hooked up to the scanner so that I can post pictures. Pictures are my absolute favorite thing!

Back in February my step-father-in-law, Woody, got into a pretty bad car accident. Woody was driving a GT Probe and the other driver was driving a big truck. Woody was hit on the drivers side. The other driver was not hurt and only ended up with $500 worth of damage. Woody ended up with a totaled car, broken pelvis, fractured all of his ribs, punctured lung and a fractured tail bone. Amazingly he didn't hit his head or have even a scratch on him. By the looks of his car a person would have been expected to have hit their head and had a lot of scratches. Woody has been through a lot. He is now at home. He will have a lot of physical rehab to go through and can't return to work for three months. He really gave us all a scare.

Mylan has started baseball again. He is in heaven! For the next two weekends he is attending a catchers camp. Catcher is his favorite position and he really quite good at it.

I am just recovering from a cold. I was miserable all week. I now have a lingering cough. My poor husband has had to listen to me coughing all night for the entire week. He hasn't complained once.
